HI! WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE HERE!

Hello! We are so glad you are here. We’re excited to get to know you more. You’ll find out some details about who we are on our website, but the best way to get to know us is to attend church on Sunday morning. It will give you a chance to feel spiritually uplifted in our thoughtful worship as well as a chance to meet friends to support you along the journey of life. You can see what our services are like on this Youtube playlist.

I know that going to a church for the first time is sometimes hard because there are so many new things. I know that feeling well. We want you to know that we are ordinary people who want to welcome you and each other in authentic and loving faith. We welcome your faith as well as your doubt. We are people who believe church should have a wide welcome and healing and belonging are for all people. This is who Jesus is to us!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or are curious about us. I would be happy to support you in your spiritual and religious journey. I can’t wait to meet you. Praying for you already!

Jesus loves you and so do we –

Where do I park?

On Sunday morning all the street parking is free and available to use. The closest parking garage is the McAllister Parking Deck.

What will the service be like?

Our worship service begins at 10:45 am and people will start to arrive at the sanctuary a little before then. Our service blends traditional elements with relevant ideas. Church includes elements such as hymns of music, Scripture, sermon, and prayer. We are a warm congregation that likes to be together and likes to meet new people. Coffee and snacks are provided after the service during fellowship hour. There are also often opportunities to help with church ministries after service, such as packing bags of food for our food assistance ministry.

Can I partake in Holy Communion?

Yes! We believe the Communion table is the table of Christ. Everyone is welcome at Christ’s table. A couple of other notes: 1) Gluten free wafers are available. 2) The cup is always grape juice. We most often have communion on the first Sunday of the month. You do not need to be a member, and you do not need to be baptized to partake in communion. Children are also welcome.

Is there a dress code?

You will see some people dressed in a suit and tie, some people in jeans and shirts, and many of us in casual clothes. We reflect the nature of being in a college town pretty well. We love college students and know sometimes you quickly put on whatever is right next to your bed. Sometimes dressing up also feels good. Just show up as you are and open your heart to God and we’ll welcome you just as you are.

How early should I arrive?

Arriving 10 – 15 minutes prior to the start of the service will give you an opportunity to park, find your seat in the Sanctuary, and settle in. People like to say “hello” to their friends before the service begins, too.

How can my children participate in worship?

We love kids at Faith UCC.  Children are always welcome in the Sanctuary with their adult(s).  We also offer an exciting, intergenerational Sunday School Program for children age 4 years through 8th grade. Children begin the worship service with their adult(s) and are invited to Church School following the Children’s Message.

During the Summer, children remain in worship.

If your child wants to stay through the duration of the service, they are absolutely welcome. We have coloring pages and crayons available for your children. There is a nursery available for parents or children to play in as well.

Can the church building accommodate my needs?

There is accessible parking along Locust Lane, near the Office door. There is also a ramp to the main entrance on College Ave. There are several accessible seating spaces in the sanctuary, an accessible bathroom near the sanctuary, and an elevator.

There are gender-inclusive bathrooms on each floor of the church. All bathrooms are stocked with free personal hygiene and menstrual products.

There is a changing table and private nursing area in the Children’s Room.

Can I become a member of Faith Church?

Of course! We offer a membership class 1-2 times ayear. These classes are short (about 1-2 hours), provide information about the United Church of Christ and Faith Church in particular, and are intended to help folks figure out if membership at Faith is the right step for them. Following the class, anyone who wants to formally become a member of Faith is invited to join a ceremony at Sunday service to take an oath of membership and receive prayer from the congregation.

What if I'm a member of another church?

Regardless of your church membership status, you are welcome to worship with us at Faith Church. You may also transfer your membership from another UCC church to Faith, or become a new member of our church.
